I did a lot of searching on barbells. My gym is a tight fit (9.5' wide) with glass on either side. This bar was the perfect compromise. Everything else this size either compromised strength (aluminum "technique" bars) or had a narrow 3' grip so you can't use a squat rack or cage. The tradeoff was shorter plate holders (10"). That's still enough for us mere mortals. You can still get close to 300lbs with bumper plates; more with steel. The bar itself weighs 33.6lbs. The grip area is a little tighter than standard (just under 49.5") so you need to make sure it'll fit your rack/cage. The textured grip is my only gripe. It's a little too rough for my delicate hands.
I wrote a really great review about this bar on Amazon. I've been experimenting with different bar lengths for pressing and this one really scored high. Great for advanced level pressing, if your arms are not too long, and also great to have around for Oly Lifts. Best thing about it is probably the quality of the steel! Will definitely buy again.
Like all the Titian items I've purchased I've been very happy with the price and quality of this product. The 6 foot Technique barbell is rack-able in my cage which measures 48 inches from outside edge to outside edge. Squats and bench presses are much smoother now, as opposed to using my 7 foot bar, given space limitations in my home gym.
The barbell arrived quickly, packaged in a sturdy cardboard tube and was in perfect condition.
I am totally blown away by the quality of this bar. For $85 I had very modest expectations. The knurling is perfect, at least to my taste. Its coarse - as in not fine and tight - but very even, and only moderately sharp. Its quite grippy.
The sleeves spin very freely, and there is only small to moderate end play. The tolerances between the bumpers and the sleeves is also way better than I would have expected.
I really have only one complaint about this bar, and that is the fact that the knurling doesn't extend to the inside collars. For taller people this makes the bar not terribly useful for snatches, but for the price I won't stress too much about that.
Overall, I am extremely pleased. I am actually pretty astonished by the value I received for $85.
I had been eyeing this bar for a while and I am glad I pulled the trigger so to speak. Before I purchased the bar, I had a question about it so I called Titan. I believed I talked with Jennifer, she was very professional and helpful. She could not answer my question but came back on the line within two minutes with an answer.
When I received the bar, I was impressed. The bar is well made and I love the shorter length. The basement is a little tight. The bar is very serviceable. I disassembled it and added a thin film of grease to the rotating surfaces during lunch break at work. This is not necessary but I believe a little grease goes a long way on moving parts. I had it shipped to my work address and shipping was fast as well. The only problem that I can see is the grip area of the bar between the collar sleeves is 49.5 inches and this might be a little tight for some racks.
Overall, I am well pleased with my first purchase with Titan. I look forward to doing more business with them in the future.
